The committee members include

  • Jeremy Richardson

    Jeremy is the Recorder of Sheffield. He was appointed KC in 2000. He was the Association’s first Chair. He stepped down from that role in 2024 and so although not a current committee member he has been appointed as our first Honorary President.

  • Nicholas Allen KC

    Nick is the current Chair of the Association.  He is Joint Head of Chambers at 29 Bedford Row. He is a Deputy High Court Judge assigned to the Family Division and also sits as a Recorder in the Family Court.

  • Sarah Johnston

    Sarah is the current Treasurer of the Association.

    Sarah was called to the Bar in 1989 in New Zealand where she practised family and criminal law until 1993. She came to the UK in 1997, where she worked as a mental health and public law solicitor. She was appointed as a salaried judge in 2009 and now sits in the Upper Tribunal.

    She is the Welfare Judge for tribunal judicial office holders and is a member of the Diversity Committee.

     

  • James Thomas

    James is one of the founding Association members and is the current Secretary. James has sat as a full-time Judge of the First-tier Tribunal (Social Entitlement Chamber) since 2020, and as a Recorder (Crime) since 2025.

     

  • Reagan Persaud

    Reagan is a Deputy District Judge and a Fee Paid Tribunal Judge of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber. Reagan is also a family law specialist barrister, and is the first transgender judge from an ethnic minority background in the country.

  • Jamal Jeffers

    Jamal is a District Judge, appointed in 2024. He was a specialist family barrister on the Midland Circuit before joining the Bench.

  • Edward Connell

    Ed is one of the founding Association committee members. Appointed a Recorder in 2009 and then a Circuit Judge in 2019. He currently sits at Isleworth Crown Court.

    Ed is a member of the National Diversity Committee where he sits on the LGBTQ+ subcommittee. He is a Diversity and Community Relations Judge and is a commitee member of the Council of Circuit Judges.

  • Julian Cridge

    Julian qualified as a solicitor in 2000, working in the field of real estate litigation. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2013 and then an ombudsman at the Financial Ombudsman Service in 2015, before becoming a salaried District Judge in 2018. Julian sits in the County and Family Courts in London.
